French Country Style

Through thoughtful planning this 1920s French Country Norman style home was transformed from a confusing rabbit warren of large and small rooms to a circular plan, which allows for improved flow through the home. Adding new doorways and removing walls created a new entry hall from the existing courtyard and more space for a new kitchen. An attic bedroom with 1960s skylights was transformed by changing the skylights into small dormers in keeping with the character of the home. A third-floor laundry area and new bathroom completed the changes to this home. The heating and the electrical systems were brought into the 21st century. These changes created a home for this family to raise their two sons, and to create many wonderful memories. Entertaining became a joy. Improved lighting throughout the home created warm and comfortable places to work and to relax. No longer were there scary dark shadows. Cherished family paintings can now be seen with ease, with carefully focused lighting.
